Muslim children are initiated and introduced to the Holy Quran at a very young age even before they begin their formal schooling at the age of six. This is a very happy occasion for the whole family, especially the young parents. Their child will recite the Bismillah and start Quranic education. Friends and family are invited to a simple ceremony and a sumptuous feast.

Your True Greetings
Your True Greetings was formed almost 24 years back in 1989 in the small town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in the hope of earning a little income to help our family settle down in US after migrating from India in 1987. Being an artist, I did not want to take up a job and get tied down to an inescapable routine, and I wanted to be with my two children as well when they needed me.
My dream was to establish myself as a fine artist here in the US, however, to pay the bills, I started designing cards with the encouragement of a local printer, Mr. Robin Cook, who bartered my paintings and printed cards for me. With my first four card designs in the back of my old Volvo, I ran around town and sold all the cards and made some good money and thanked Allah Subhanahu Wa Taa'la for it. Gradually, as I started searching for a niche market, I made up my mind to serve Islamic communities here in the US. Using my education in Fine Arts and the design talents that I was blessed with, I started creating Islamic greeting cards. My husband and my children supported me.
We used to go to conventions and community fairs, make sales and generate mailing lists. Slowly but surely a mail order business was created. Those first four designs that I had created have grown now into 95 designs and the 100th design is scheduled to be added this year.

2013 CALENDAR WITH CORRESPONDING 1434-1435 HIJRAH DATES
Islamic Calendar for 2013 with Corresponding
Hijrah dates with "Rabbana" theme:
Rabbana-Our Lord!
In moments of despair the human heart cries out for
his/her Lord and says, "My Lord! Help me,
have mercy on me!"
and he is relieved of the pain. Prayer has power, prayer is solace,
and prayer provides release from stress.
Allah says in Al-Quran “And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me." Al-Quran 2:186. In another verse Allah says, “And your Lord says: Call on Me; I will answer your (prayer),” Al-Quran: 40:60, and again He says, “Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you.” Al-Quran: 2:152
My mother always said that God is ever ready to help you. You move one step in His direction and He would come running towards you. We gratefully know that Allah has blessed us with the power of prayer to deal with any pain or distress that we may suffer. And then in His kindness He has also revealed to us in Al-Quran so many prayers of the prophets, messengers and righteous people.
In this calendar I have brought together a few of these prayers which are the words of humans but are included in the Words of Allah (Al-Quran) for our daily remembrances. These prayers certainly possess great virtues and blessings for us.

Your True Greetings
I have been painting for thirty some years. I have traveled and extensively, from India to Iran to Kuwait to UK, Germany and to US. And last year I have moved from Bethlehem Pennsylvania to the East Bay. I have lived for long periods with amazing people and fascinating communities. Folk art, miniature art and Arabic Calligraphy are three strong influences on my art, adopted along my journeys. All textures and all colors are assimilated on my surfaces. I am creating a body of work of through continuous, lyrical line, to express joy in the universal spirit that unites humanity.
Undefined energy inspires me to fill the surface of the canvas with moving lines and penetrating textures. I apply layers of colors and then embroider with pen and ink. It is an ongoing process. The different layering materials that I use bring out subliminal images.
In my present works the theme is people. Crowds of people, moving together, merging together, in groups, conversing, dancing or arguing. People of all lands with their colorful fabrics and intimate gestures, lyrical movements and intricate patterns.
Some works are direct influences of Indian folk or miniature art. Others are total abstracts. In my efforts, I have tried to bring Eastern spirituality, and western techniques of painting learned over the years. Through the contrasting elements in my work, I yearn and search for unity and when that unity or balance is achieved, it brings about a tranquility and joy.

Islamic Gifts
In Islam gift giving is a way of keeping good relations with people and in some cases is considered obligatory. Over the years I have added some gifts for our community.
Names of Allah is the best gift but the VCR and DVD created with all 100 images of the Beautiful Names and Arabic recitation with English translations is soothing and may be used for meditation. Chanting has been added to create the atmosphere of spirituality and peace.
It is a good Ramadan gift and it is a good gift to be given to children to memorize the Names of Allah.I have various small gifts like book marks, prayer cards etc. This year a Giclee print (high quality fine art print on canvas that resembles an original painting) of all 100 tile images of the Beautiful Names is available as a gift item.
